File attachments
Attach images to a prompt as visual reference. For data in PDFs, spreadsheets, documents, or GeoJSON, connect it on the Data page.
Attach images to a prompt and Flitch looks at them while it builds. They are visual reference, not data: a target layout, a logo, a style sample. They never become a dataset you query.
Files that carry data are connected on the Data page instead:
- PDFs, spreadsheets, and documents: Upload & extract reads the file and turns its tables into a dataset you can chart and query.
- GeoJSON boundary files: add a GeoJSON source, and the geometry is available to map layers across every dashboard that uses it.
Attach
Open Create or a dashboard
Start a new dashboard from Create, or open an existing dashboard and use the chat sidebar to update it.
Click Upload
On Create, click Upload in the prompt box. In a dashboard's chat sidebar, click and choose Upload files. Each file shows as a chip you can preview or remove.
Write your prompt and submit
Reference the images in plain language ("use the brand colors from the logo", "match this layout"). Flitch attaches them to the run.

Up to 5 MB per image, at most 20 files and 40 MB per prompt. Other formats are declined with a note pointing you to the Data page, which is where data files belong: PDFs, spreadsheets, and documents through Upload & extract, and GeoJSON as its own source.
How images are used
Flitch reads each image and decides what it is for from your prompt:
- Layout reference: a screenshot or mockup of a target design. Flitch matches the structure and look, then discards the file.
- Brand assets: a logo, icon, photo, or background you want to appear in the dashboard. These are kept as project assets and placed in the UI.
Images are never charted, and never turned into rows.
Project assets
Images that belong in the UI are kept with the dashboard as project assets, so they persist past the temporary upload window and stay available to later updates. They are listed under the dashboard's Settings → General, where you can view or remove them.
Privacy
Files are stored encrypted at rest in S3. Temporary upload copies are deleted automatically after 24 hours; project assets are removed when you delete the dashboard.
