Everything here is a dataset: a table of rows you can chart, query, and build dashboards on. Datasets arrive two ways.
Connected. Read from a source you link to, and Flitch never writes back to it.
- Connection: a credentialed link to a source. See Integrations.
- Dataset: a specific table, file, or object set inside that connection.
- Refresh: the cadence on which its cache is rebuilt.
Collected. Filled in by people, through a dashboard, when what you need has no source to connect. See Input tables.
- No credentials and nothing to set up: the table is created with the dashboard that collects it.
- No refresh: it is current the moment someone types.
- Every entry records who made it and when.
Once it exists, the kind stops mattering. Both appear in your data, chart the same way, combine with each other, and can be read by another dashboard.
